Stockjudging Results 2015 and Photo's

11th July 2015

What a fantastic turnout for the club’s annual summer event.

For the first time the club travelled to Mitchell’s Auction Mart, Cockermouth where approx 120 members judged some fantastic cattle. Thanks must go to Matthew Harper, John Metcalf, John Brough and Buckabank Farms for providing 2 classes of outstanding animals.  David Robinson of Dovenby Craggs, Cockermouth was an excellent choice of master judge for these superb animals. Club Chairman Neil Brough thanked all those who had made the evening such a success especially Ruth Harper from Mitchells and sponsor Ian Caddy from Genus.

The final evening was a trip to the east of the county and the Eden valley base of the “Stowbeck” Herd from the Wilson family at Skirwith Hall Farm, Skirwith, Penrith. A beautiful evening brought out nearly 200 members and neighbours to view 2 outstanding classes of dairy animals. The judging was in the capable hands of David Hodgson, Wormanby, Burgh by Sands who had a great time placing these superb animals. Whilst members enjoyed a good look around the farm the results were calculated by a great team of helpers and announced as the evening closed with thanks to all the Wilson family for enabling this superb evening to go ahead. Sponsors for the night were Semex and Cogent gave prizes for the overall winners.

A HUGE thank you to all the families and especially the Wilson’s for ensuring that Border & Lakeland had 2 excellent stock judging evenings this year!!! It nearly didn’t happen. Everybody is very aware of how much time and effort it takes to hold one of these events and we are really grateful for those involved for making 2 fantastic nights for all our members – even the weather at Skirwith was perfect!

Neil and Joanne  would like to say a really big thank you to the scorers, sponsors, judges, committee  and everyone involved with helping make the stockjudgings nights run smoothly -there is a lot of work goes on behind the scenes before and on the night and we really appreciate this help.
