SUMMER HERDS COMPETITION 2017

With the coveted Edward Pattinson Memorial Trophy proudly fought over within the club there was plenty of entries for this years Summer Herds Competition. Along with all the individual entries our judge this year Mr. James Burrow form the STARDALE herd had a job I was not envious of!

We set of on Monday & I tried to fit the judging into two days (this being my second year of secretary & having done the same last year!) I have now learnt we need at least three! So much to deliberate and giving everyone equal opportunity to show us round the wonderful herds we are lucky to have within the club.

Highlights of the three days would have to be the Progeny class. Messrs Harrington Flatt Bank Gaitsgill, won the small herds with a group of Savage Leigh Lucius daughters, while in the same category T Graham & Son Anguswells were second with a group of De-Su 521 Bookem daughters meanwhile in the large herds Evening Hill Ltd were winning with a group of Gillette Stanleycup daughters and Skirwith Hall Ltd were second with Gillette Windbrook.

Individually The senior cows rocked the winner Evening Talent Sunrise in her 10th lactation and second place Kellywell Goldwyn Aleecia about to calf into her 7th

Giving his summery on our presentation evening Mr. James Burrow thanked the club for a fabulous 3 days he thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone’s herds & individual entrants.
