AGM Report and Silage Competition Results

The end of 2013 saw a change of secretary at Border and Lakeland with Joanne Fisher taking over the post. Louise had given the club great service and everyone wished her well and we are sure as part of the well known Hodgson family at Wormanby we will be seeing her plenty.
Our first competition of the year was the Winter Holstein Classic, this year the judging was in the capable hands of David Booth “Feizer”. After travelling to herds in all parts of the county the results were announced at the 14th AGM at Carlisle on the 4th March. David gave an in depth report of the excellent cows he had seen over the two days without giving the all important results away! The standard of the cattle put forward was extremely high and David encouraged all members to consider entering this really worthwhile competition. The evening was a great success with the new format of a pie and pea supper to start the night followed by the AGM and the results of the WHC and silage competition ensuring a great turnout of over 50 members. The national president Mr Jimmy Wilson was also in attendance and presented the winners trophies from the results of the club sales held at Borderway Mart each month. The club is now looking forward to spring and hopefully some drier weather especially for the start of the stockjudging season.

Highest priced animal at club sales won by H M and D Hodgson Wormanby with Wormanby shottle Mahala.
