NEW BORDERWAY RECORD - Whinnow Gateway Sells For 10,000gns

The 21st Annual Spring Bull sale held on behalf of the Border & Lakeland Holstein Club had an outstanding selection of bulls on offer from the best cows and the best herds in the UK.  Bulls topped at 10,000gns to average £4155 per life with 50% of the bulls selling for or more than £4000.  A packed ringside had buyers from across the UK in attendance with buyers recorded as far north as Aberdeen and down to Somerset. 

The show was sponsored by Finance For Farms and judged professionally by Jimmy Balillie from the much respected Dalserf Holstein herd in Lanarkshire.  He selected Warnelview Karma as his Overall Champion who was consigned by Kevin & Chrstine Wilson, this classy bull went on to sell for 5,000gns to Mr Tiffen from Penrith.   This well grown son of Dropbox was bred from the Kimo cow family with his dam and grand dam both classified Excellent 94 points, he currently has three sisters milking within the Warnelview herd and all are either Excellent or Very Good

Champion Reserve Champion

Warnelview Holstein won Reserve Champion as well with the youngest bull in the catalogue, Warnelview Navigate had placed second in the Junior class behind the Overall Champion and went on to sell for 6,200gns to the Allen family from near Whitchurch in Shropshire.  Navigate was sired by Davinci and was a direct son of the iconic Warnelview Final Cut Nita who has classified Excellent 97 on seven occasions and to date has produced over 170 ton of milk lifetime.  This young 11 month old sire has two Excellent 95 point sisters and another 12 Excellent or Very Good sisters.  The Warnelview herd sold another ten bulls to average £5176. 

The Blamire family from near Thursby made history with their impressive Whinnow Gateway bull who sold for 10,000gns to the Tincknell family from Somerset.  The previous Borderway record for the British Friesian bull was 8,500gns set by the Annandale herd several years ago.  Gateway was a maternal brother to Beaufort Milkman was is marketed by the Genus ABS stud. His dam, sired by Rodbrook Barney is one of the breeds highest production cows who produced over 14000kgs as a six year old cow.   

Not only did the Blamire family set the new Borderway Centre record price but they also set the highest average price for a single consignment of dairy bulls averaging £7875 for their bulls.  This also included Whinnow Journey who sold for 7,000gns to Mr Adams from Stranraer.  He was sired by Lakemead Jingle and bred from an impressive line of Excellent cows with massive lifetime production.
