DANDY DAY FOR FEIZOR & BERRYHOLME

Milkers average £2482

Quality was in abundance for the November Border & Lakeland Club Sale buyers has a special selection of cows and heifers all producing oceans of milk to choose from and many were bred from elite cow families.  The surprising cold weather meant some people were unable to attend the sale due to the extra workload that come with thawing pipes and milking equipment.  Trade topped at 4,000gns twice with the overall average for heifers in milk coming to £2482.      

The sale was sponsored by Finance For Farms and was judged by Jim Johnstone from Glenrigg Farm Falkirk.  He selected Kepculloch Lambda Trethelma as his overall Champion, she went on to sell for 2,600gns and was purchased by the Marshall family from Hardgrove Farm near Dumfries. She was consigned by Robert Steel from Kepculloch Farm near Glasgow. 

Reserve Champion was awarded to Newtonmoss Adorable Noreen, consigned by the Fisher family from Penrith.  Noreen was sired by Adorable and bred from a Very Good 87 pointed dam.  She had been classified VG86 in her first lactation and sold for 2,500gns to the Broughs from Seathill Farm near Carlisle. 

Topping the sale at 4,000gns was Berryholme Davinci Flo (not entered in the show) who was bought by Mr Coulthurst from Preston.  Flo was consigned by the Wright family from Lancashire and is bred from a special line of this family going back to two National Champions.  She was sired by Davinci and will be one to lookout for in the Spring Shows next year. Berryholme sold another three heifers to average £3083.

Feizor Fuel C Dandy also sold for 4,000gns to Baltier Farming, near Newton Stewart. She was consigned by the Booth family from Old Hall Farm in Lancashire, her pedigree boosted to no less than ten generations of Excellent or Very Goods that included the amazing Feizor Goldwyn Dandy EX93 who produced over 120 ton lifetime. 

The first place Junior Heifer in milk went to Feizor Lambda A Kandie, her fourth dam was the Unanimous All American Red & White 5 year old in 2014, Luck-E Advent Kandie who was Senior Champion & Best Udder at World Dairy Expo the same year.  This super fancy uddered heifer sold for 3,600gns to Baltier Farming, near Newton Stewart.  The Feizor herd sold another four heifers to average £3491. 

John Greenop from Bridedale Farm near Wigton sold a very nice daughter of Ranger Red for 3,200gns to the Murray family from Stafford.  Bridgedale Ranger Snapple Red had the best pedigree in the catalogue being bred from a VG86 Luster P, VG89 Ladd P, EX90 Olympain followed by the All American winner Miss Apple Snapple EX96 then Apple herself!
