Trade topped at 3,500gns on two occasions with the overall average for milking heifers coming to £2641. The show was sponsored by Finance For Farms and judged by Doug Reynolds from Tregoose Brown Swiss.
The Champion and top priced milker was Evening Barolo Tippy from Evening Hill Farm Ltd. This July 2022-born heifer by Claynook Barolo is out of the 2019 AgriScot Supercow, Whinchat Snowy Tippy 2 VG89 SP LP50. She was knocked down to Baltier Farming Company for their Wigtownshire based herd. Three other heifers from the Evening herd sold to average £3132.
Standing Reserve Champion was Wormanby Royal Lustre from Wormanby Farms Ltd. Fresh at the end of December, this March 2023-born Wormanby Royal daughter sold for 3000gns to Messrs Manning, Shropshire. This well-bred heifer traces back to the famous Royal Winter Fair Champion, Idee Lustre.
The Scott family from Ayrshire sold eight outstanding heifers topping at 2,900gns for Nethervalley Rager Ghost who was sired by Ranger Red and was bought by the Barrowman family from Stranraer. Three other heifers from this group awesome uddered group sold for 2,800gns.
Len and Chris Wilson, owners of the Stowbeck herd sold 11 exceptional heifers all bred from outstanding cow families. This special consignment topped at 2,900gns for Stowbeck System Trix and sold to Messrs Longmire from Broughton Beck, Cumbria.
Joint top-price was Annandale Keyline, a August 2023-born bull from Matthew Armour. Sired by Annandale Finally he is out of the 14265kg 5.70% 3.38% Annandale Abbot Kim VG88 (2yr) and backed by a further 8 generations of VG or EX dams. He sold online to Messrs Hainey, Sandhead, Stranraer.
